AMIA Panel features Meharry, Fisk and VUMC

M.S. Data Science student Bradford Patton among the panelists.

Representatives from Meharry SACS, Vanderbilt University Medical Center Dept. of Bioinformatics, and Fisk University spoke on the panel “Building an Interorganizational Collaboration to Enhance Biomedical Informatics Experiential Education for Diverse Students” during the AMIA (American Medical Informatics Association) 2023 Annual Symposium. The three institutions are partners on the NIH R25 funded program that engages Fisk and Meharry students in a summer research program through 2027.

The panelists were M.S. Data Science student Bradford Patton, Aize Cao, Ph.D., associate professor, biomedical data science, and Todd Gary, Ph.D., director, external research and development partnerships from Meharry SACS. Lei Qian, Ph.D, and Marcel Edinbugh, from Fisk, and Kim Unertl, Ph.D., from VUMC.

M.S. Data Science student Clarence White, Jr., Ph.D was also in attendance.
