Shillingford leads three sessions at Splunk .conf23

Nadine Shillingford, Ph.D., chair, computer science and data science department, recently led three sessions at Splunk .conf23.
During Visualizing Wealth and Lifespan in the Caribbean Islands, Dr. Shillingford presented a data analytics project that is being developed as part of a course at Meharry SACS. She used interactive Splunk dashboards to annotate world events to show how a select number of Caribbean islands vary in wealth and lifespan over time.

Dr. Shillingford, who is the author of “Data Analytics with Splunk 9.x,” also led two sessions dedicated to that book. She read a section of the book and participated in a fireside chat.
“It was great to meet so many attendees and share this work that will soon be a part of the SACS academic program,” says Dr. Shillingford. “It was also a joy to discuss my book and I was blown away by the strong response to it.”
Dr. Shillingford is thankful to the Splunk Community team led by Alan Aisbitt who purchased 200 copies of “Data Analytics with Splunk 9.x” for the event. Gretchen Fox, Splunk community manager, hosted the fireside chats and coordinated the two book signing sessions. All 200 copies of the book were distributed during the book signings.
