Responsible Management and Optimization of Chronic Diseases through Non-Discriminatory Artificial Intelligence

The vision of the RESONANCE Lab is to manage chronic diseases with equitable digital technologies.

The Lab’s two major research directions are:

  1. Developing new technologies such as mobile applications, and wearable devices with embedded artificial intelligence (AI) to manage chronic conditions such as heart failure, sleep apnea, asthma, COPD, and cancer. The ultimate goal of this direction is to develop easily accessible and cost-effective technologies that enable patients to self-care management.
  2. Understanding social and racial disparities in the diagnosis, monitoring and treatment of chronic diseases. The main goal of this direction is to educate underserved minorities about self-care management while evaluating AI technologies to ensure they are unbiased and non-discriminatory when applied.

The lab’s overarching goal is to bridge the gap in health care quality and access through innovative technologies, thereby fostering a more equitable health system.
