David Sanders has always loved working with numbers and the opportunity to transition to a data science role in the health care industry brought him to Meharry.

Sanders has held several roles in information technology throughout his career, including an extensive stint at Meharry. When he decided to pursue a career in data science, Meharry was the obvious choice for him.

“I consider Meharry as my family. My wife of 37 years started her nursing career at Meharry, my oldest son did his summer research with Dr. Stanley Evans, and Dr. Henry Foster delivered our daughter. My sister, Gloria, also works at Meharry,” says Sanders.

Sanders hopes to explore research opportunities with the HCA CHARGE Consortium and in epidemiology through the Department of Health. After Meharry he looks forward to using his education to making an impact with big data.
